Teach the T cells: How Learning is Shaping Immunity
Manfred Schedlowski is Professor and Director of the Institute of Medical Psychology and Behavioral Immunobiology at the Medical Faculty, University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany. His current primary focus of research is the neurobiology of placebo and nocebo responses, in particular the mechanisms and clinical relevance of behavioral or Pavlovian conditioning of immune and neuroendocrine functions. In addition, he is analyzing the effects of peripheral inflammatory processes on neurocognitive and affective functions and the relevance of these effects for the development and maintenance of neuropsychiatric diseases such as depression or schizophrenia.
